Lions Roar Past Lady Deacons

Lindsey rebounds from pre-game fall, but not enough for BC to prevail.

Bloomfield, NJ…The Lady Deacons lost to Georgian Court 3-0 (25-30, 25-30, 23-30). In a battle of first place teams as both squads entered the match sitting atop the standing in their respective divisions.  BC entered as the leader in the North Division with a 6-1 record in CACC play, and Georgian Court came in at 8-0 in CACC play.

Things did not go well for BC even before the game began.  Just two minutes prior to introductions, Celeste Lindsey (Cincinnati, OH/Mt. Notre Dame) took a fall in warm-ups and got up very gingerly.  After being attended to by the BC training staff, Lindsey returned to the court and started the match, but she was obviously not at 100%.  Despite being hobbled Lindsey still managed to tally nine kills on 14 attempts and commit just two errors, hitting .500 for the match.  She also stuffed three blocks on defense.

Ursula Pereira (Belo Horizante, Brazil/Newark East Side) led all BC players with 10 kills on 29 attempts and seven errors (.103) and added eight digs on defense.

For the Lions sophomore setter Lisamary Figueroa was the all around star of the day.  Figueroa registered 10 kills on 13 attempts with just one error (.692), served for four aces, and dished out 25 assists.  Claudimary Rivera played a great supporting roll pounding eight kills on 15 attempts with just one error (.467).

The loss drops the Lady Deacons to 7-14 overall and 6-2 in the CACC, while the Lions improve to 15-4 overall and 9-0 in CACC play.

Bloomfield will be back in action on Monday October 8th at 7 PM, when they host Mercy College in a non-conference match up.
